The Member Aid Officer is available to answer your questions on prototype and modelling matters or general topics.

To complement the Member Aid Officer’s prototype and modelling knowledge many members have offered to make their specialist knowledge available. There are over 50 Railroads covered, from the Bay Area Rapid Transit to the Western Pacific.

Several Railroad Historical Societies are also covered in the Member Aid Program as well as a range of general topics such as advice on magazine production, DCC, railfanning and travel advice.

Magazine Searches

The Region usually offers a magazine search service to its members as part of Member Aid, based on a computer database of magazine articles. This service is currently suspended as new arrangements are worked out.

But in the meantime, if a specific article or section of a particular magazine is requested, a copy can usually be provided, electronically or in hard-copy, at cost.

Members making use of this service are asked to be as specific as possible regarding their enquiry. If the enquiry involves a lot of paperwork it is reasonable to expect the recipient to contribute to any cost.

Membership of the NMRA also allows access to the Kalmbach Memorial Library in Sacramento, CA, which has a huge collection of reference material.
