The NMRA BR Winter Meet on 1 February 2025 will be at the Stokenchurch Community Centre, Bartholomew Tipping Lane, Stokenchurch HP14 3RX. This is the venue we’ve used since 2022. It’s exactly one mile from M40 J5 and is easy to find and signposted within the village.
The venue will be open to NMRA members and the public from 10:00 to 16:00. The NMRA Publicity Stand and the Region Library will be there, as will sales of BR Polo Shirts. AP Assessment will be available but please advise beforehand to Keith Webb, AP Chair, to make sure we have enough space and to arrange assessors. Chris James will have his DCC test track available.
Traders confirmed are Anoraks Anonymous, SCC, AngloAmerican, 3D Printed accessories from Barry Clements and GLR Trains who are making their first appearance at the Winter Meet.
The centrepiece layout in the main hall will be from the Gosport N-Scale modular group. We welcome Hywel Rees for the first time with a C&O theme circular layout to watch the train go by; Hywel also offers running rights to other DCC locos on request. Sorrento Park, a small TT scale North American switching layout will be present and Dan Bonham is bringing an enlarged Geeksville back for a welcome repeat visit.
Please contact Keith Webb if you have a layout that you’d like to bring for 2026 and beyond. We’re always on the lookout for new layouts for the meet.
There is space for members to Bring and Buy, at £10 per table. Please contact Keith Webb to book space. If you just turn up on the day, you might be lucky, but then again you might not.
Admission will be £5 for NMRA members and £10 for non-members, intended to highlight the value to be gained from being an NMRA member. We do ask you to bring your NMRA Membership card on the day.
Catering will be by Nick from TooPerfection as last year.
There are attractions close by which might interest non-railers in your family sharing the day out. Stokenchurch is where the M40 crosses the northern edge of the Chilterns, with red kites almost always visible. Aston Rowant Nature Reserve with several woodland walks is a mile or so away. Stonor Park, Nuffield Place and Greys Court – all National Trust – are not far away, as are the Hell Fire caves and West Wycombe Park. Waterperry Gardens, a must for gardening enthusiasts, is up the M40 towards Oxford. Do check with these attractions for opening times. Oxford itself is just up the M40, with a Park & Ride available at Thornhill on the A40 from J8/8a. Bicester Outlet Village is close to M40 Junction 9, about 20 miles north.
