Swapping the helper

Here's a YouTube video I like to watch every now and then, an essay in locomotive movement, with UP 3177 being passed to an Eastbound train that's about to go over Donner Pass. It's being detached from the power consist that's just been "over the hill" with a Westbound.

Stuff like this, you can do with DCC. In fact, we used to perform similar loco movements on the Anson Yard layout.
