For anyone wanting to start out on or improve their weathering skills I can highly recommend 'The Weathering Shop' website and it's associated forum 'The Rustbucket'. Subject matter does lean towards the more modern era but techniques on show are well worth looking at

Thanks for the link, I guess this might be my next stop to look for tips and tricks , now that the 'modeltrainsweathered' website/forum has been down for ages, and hadn't found anywhere else where this sort of thing was shown in such a good way.
