"Calder Northern Group, are hosting one of their much enjoyed two day Themed Train Show events at Crewe Heritage Centre on the weekend of October 4th(Saturday)and 5th(Sunday) with the theme title of “Fallen Flags”.
There will also be a Saturday evening dinner at Crewe Arms Hotel.
To date we have 9 confirmed layouts plus 4 other layouts in the negotiation stages. Those confirmed are mainly HO scale but with 2 being On30 layouts.
There will be a bookseller and bring & buy tables. Calder Northern’s 2 layouts will also be operating in the North Junction Signal Box.
In addition to the Train Show the Heritage Centre attractions will be there for all to enjoy – 3 signal boxes, APT, Diesel and Steam locomotives and of course the miniature railway. We are also going to have the “be a driver for a fiver” again where you get the opportunity to drive (under guidance!) the Class 03 diesel shunter.
Hours of opening will be 10am till 4pm each day. There will be catering available and also drinks and light refreshments in North Junction Signal Box. Entry is £5 for adults, £2 for children.
For those wishing to come for the weekend then the rate for a room including bed & breakfast at Crewe Arms Hotel, (which is currently in the process of a complete refurbishment including installation of a lift, which will make things a lot easier) is £45 for a single room or £59.50 for either twin/double.
Premier Inns and Travelodge also have accommodation very close by and convenient to the railway station. For those wishing to make reservations for a room at Crewe Arms Hotel or for the Saturday evening meal would they please e-mail Terry Wynne at <T_WYNNE@sky.com> or telephone 01270 567050 and Terry will coordinate all bookings with the hotel to avoid any problems."
