Athearn to release snow fighter versions of their GP 38-2?

Post by torikoos »

The first release of the Athearn Genesis GP38-2 is finally shipping, including the SP versions.
I am eagerly awaiting delivery of my locos. However, it appears Athearn is probably secretly working on more versions, including the snow fighters: Some 'hints' can be found in this post: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 040&type=1

I hope it is true, and be inclusive of an accurate version of the SP rotary equipment..

There's a lot of detail differences on the Snow Service GP38-2s, and there's not that many of them, but you never know. Possibly too narrow a niche?

I sincerely doubt there will ever be an accurate SP rotary in HO plastic. There's never even been a brass one (or a brass steel-sided SP flanger), and the only brass HO model of an SP snow-service Jordan Spreader (SPMW 4034, the Truckee "straight-wing" spreader) had several inaccuracies.
