Depending on your mechanical skills, you could consider a variety of replacement motors, including Athearn, Roco, Kato , Mashima and others. Some may require milling of the frame or alternative mounting methods etc but since there are a lot of similarities in the drive trains, there could be several that fit. It's not undoable. One of these may do?
