Re: Caboose or no Caboose
The only exception I can think of coming across (which is not to say that no other variations exist!) is i've read articles where the advertised passenger accomodation turned out be be a seat in the caboose - but in modelling terms that would look just like a freight train so probably not a lot of h...

Re: Caboose or no Caboose
Some of the ones i've seen images of used a heavyweight combine as a caboose, if that helps? Examples: http://www.nwhs.org/archivesdb/detail.php?ID=92371 http://www.nwhs.org/archivesdb/detail.php?ID=11445 Those are both N&W - but the same method was used elsewhere also, I know of Santa Fe and SP...

Ant - I don't know the answer, but would looking at Bing overheads help to make a 'guesstimate'?

Re: Bachmann Hirail maintainence truck (HO)
Spent a few hours on this one last night... http://ukrailwaypics.smugmug.com/photos/i-RmPBjjx/0/M/i-RmPBjjx-M.jpg http://ukrailwaypics.smugmug.com/photos/i-8M625pz/0/M/i-8M625pz-M.jpg I think that looks much better, it's had a bit of detail painting, a driver, some proper mirrors and a few decals ad...

Re: Bachmann Hirail maintainence truck (HO)
Some more proto inspiration - what becomes quickly apparent is these trucks are all very unique in configuration, the Bachmann one won't exactly match any, but as a 'flavour' it's good, as kitbashing fodder for other types it's also good! This NS one has an International crew cab, which I think Bole...

Re: Bachmann maintainence truck (HO)
Many of these truck do have the wheels set in so they fit track gauge, although not with flanges! Looking at photos of bigger trucks they drive on the inner dual rear wheels, the front wheels are outside of the rails. So adding dual rear wheels (add a wheels to the existing axle) would improve it's...

When I knew they were out in the US I got the local model shop to put an order in, they don't generally do American (apart from Peco track) but are a Bachmann dealer...

Bachmann Hirail maintainence truck (HO)
A few companies have made working hi-rail vehicles in the past, but none have struck me as particularly plausible looking - either they had 'bulked up' a smaller vehicle, or messed with proportions to fit the demands of the chassis. I've grown up somewhat sceptical of the majority of Bachmann's US d...

Lovely work Brian
Would there be some boarding in the 4' at the speeder shed also to help them manhandle it round to the track?

Freemo Extravaganza - Armitage, Staffs, 5th/6th July 2014
Next year we plan to hold a fledgling Freemo meet at Armitage, Staffs, in the same hall as TVNAM is held. This is not an NMRA event but will be open to (and I presume of interest to) members. Note this won't be a 'public show' but will specifically be a freemo meet. For full details of the event fol...
