Hi Peter, yes it's a good resource, I've found some old articles to research my prototype over there.
I don't visit often, but it's a good info site.

Re: DCC loco decoders.
Hi Mike (or others) , do you know if the Loksound file for the EMD 567 engine is a V16 or a V12 engine? i have a GP35 that is still DC, and I want to fit a decoder, and might as well go straight for a sound equipped one, and it's a good candidate to try out an ESU. I can't find the engine detail in ...

Re: DCC loco decoders.
Cheers Mike,
the Direct is what I am after, and glad to see that it's available in the UK for about 80GBP at the link Ray provided below.
It will be the decoder I'm going to get for some of my advanced orders (2 x SP GP38-2 and a GP15-1), all by Athearn Genesis.

Basic scenery
I've just started the next step in my basic scenery on my home layout. On this layout, I use the method as demonstrated in Joe Fugate's scenery DVD's (Ten Mile Creek). So the basic terain is cardboard webbing hot glued together, covered with masking tape, painted with latex earth paint, and now I've...

Re: DCC loco decoders.
That's great thanks,I checked it out, and indeed it's the US version they have in their range, it's the first link I've seen of the 'Select Direct' type being available outside the US, and the price is very reasonable at £80,- indeed. Not too many sound file selections there though, but that's not a...

DCC loco decoders.
Just wondering what experiences people have programming a variety of loco decoders. I have a few T4X decoders with automatic BEMF, but there's very little in the way of programmability in these, so it does take a lot of experimenting to get them to behave. One issue I've regularly struggled with is ...

Re: Indiana Railroad SD9043MACs
How do these new TCS decoders stack up programming wise? I have a few T4X decoders with automatic BEMF, but there's very little in the way of programmability in these, so it does take a lot of experimenting to get them to behave. One issue I've regularly struggled with is that a flywheel equipped lo...

Cool, what decoder (brand) types did you put in? Sound type or a function/motor control type only?

California Northern layout in HO
Here's a little bit of railroad action on my layout. I will introduce my layout in a future post in a bit more detail, for now , let's watch a few trains.

I agree and as it stands, an excellent article in it self for RH and the main website, that way it will reach the full membership, and show visitors to our site (and potential new members) what is going on within our region!

Re: California Northern SD9 203 test run
yes that's a good point, the BB's are a bit 'wider'. added bonus will be that they are relatively cheap to get.
I might then use P2K models for the SP versions I'm hoping to add in the future.. and keep them separated from the CFNR units.

Re: California Northern SD9 203 test run
Thanks Brian, yes it is sounding very good. It has a QSI Quantum Revolution decoder installed , which also has good slow speed performance, but it is a pain to program (to get everything out of it, you'd need a dedicated programmer, which I do not have). The roof beacon is wired up, but I cannot cha...
