Re: TWC Programme

Hi Koos Its currently stand alone in Jython. I am thinking out the next stage, which is the Train Sheet or equivalent. When I have it working I will consider redoing it in Java inside JMRI, but that will be a challenge. BTW I had the first cut running at Western Union last Saturday. All the best Pet...

TWC Programme

Hi

I am working on a little TWC programme to help the dispatcher prepare his Track Warrants. The next stage is to sort out and automate the Train Sheet.

Re: how to manage a module meet?

Hi Tom has reminded us that there are two separate subjects here. Spec. Currently as regards panels the spec says either do not bother or fit the Universal Panel. (We subsequently discovered this was a NCE). This should be changed to either do not bother or "recommend" the fitting of a Len...

You can safely criticise a man's choice of wife, but not his choice of DCC system.

Re: how to manage a module meet?

Hi There still remains the question of which type of panel the NMRA Buy, which in fact takes us straight back to square one, which DCC system, which is what we are trying to avoid. I have a Digitrax and a Lenz panel on both sides of one module, but as that is expensive have none on my other module! ...

Re: how to manage a module meet?

Hi OK lets ignore the spec. But I maintain we should recommend that at largish "open" meets the organisers provide a JMRI WiFi Server. At the moment we are having problems specifying what panel to use, one possible solution being the "organisers" provide spare panels (along with ...

Re: how to manage a module meet?

If they don't already have a suitable device (and many folk will) anyone can buy a s/h 'throttle' (s/h mobile phone with the Android operating system) already for less than the cost of a pair of UTP or Lenz sockets for their module, and there would be no compatibility issues or potential for wiring...

Re: how to manage a module meet?

Hi There is some confusion as to which throttle panel will work with which throttle! The Lenz panel is claimed to be compatible with both NCE and Lenz by Lenz and indeed we have run NCE off mine. There is also a reluctance in some quarters to lending out an expensive throttle to an individual who ha...

Re: Detail versus Practicality

Hi

This is of course particularly relevant to those using modules who have to pack away all their stock after a meet.

H Peter OpenLCB, what I think the NMRA BR HO Spec should be looking at. http://openlcb.org/ http://www.tchtechnology.com/products/nodes/ Signals. On Selby we used my cheal Digitrax ones "out of the box". Got mine from Ted. http://www.digitrax.com/products/detection-signaling/smbk/ Unfortun...

Re: Free-moN

Hi Peter I think Steve Smith is getting bored with his double sided Selby. (Selby has full CTC with signals and detection controlled by CATs.) Pre CTC shot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WL_B9r6mSSY Only yesterday we were discussing building some Free-moN modules. Indeed we were concentrating on tr...

Re: Sub-£70 fully featured DCC system from....Hornby?

Hi It will be interesting to see the full spec. (Not least is it another Window$ package). Only 8 throttles would be a limitation for some modular use, however if it has xpressnet this could perhaps be overcome by the use of JMRI. Indeed it appears that the user needs a tablet (what sort) as a throt...

Re: JMRI ops

Yes, but the conductor is part of the train crew, so the info would be converted to the switch list by the train crew itself, and not handed to them as a finished item... Hi Martyn Yes you are quite right, but I have never seen that done, I have normally seen crews working from the cards, propping ...

Re: JMRI ops

Hi Martyn A lot of good points, however I would not agree that CC&WB may be more appropriate for some eras. I understand that a switch list was written by the conductor based on the waybills, all JMRI does in this instance is create the switch list directly. So the end product is still a switchl...

On30 Modular Standard

Hi (Kathy?) I was wondering where we stood with the On30 modular Standard. I have had a quick look at one (Freundeskreis Europäischer MOdellbahner) but it calls for a 150mm (6") deep end plate, which seems rather excessive, indeed unnessasarily so. Why do people make them so deep? A two board &...
