Re: Sign of the times?

True, that's why i pointed it out - everyone knows about DC which means all the newcomers are going straight to DCC, even though DC is still available & very popular. It just seems those new to model railroading are going straight to DCC. But remember this section is also for questions on other ...

The AP and the youth of today...

Guys, Just thought I would let you know about this: Joel Priest in the USA has achieved his Master Model Railroader certificate – he is MMR 503. The amazing thing is that Joel is only 12 years old!! He has achieved what many model railroaders only dream of attaining! Now none of us have any excuse!!...

Ah crap...I think I need to subscribe to the entire forum as I've only just seen this thread! The one thing I miss from YahooGroups is the individual emails ... especially for those of us who don't have time to check the forum every day! Wonder if there is a way to subscribe to keywords? Mmmm...must...

A big whoops! ANOTHER loco is dropped!

Whoops! http://youtu.be/OvyIrsZ7Zhs A brand new EMD GT46C-ACe was dropped while being unloaded from the cargo-ship at dock. Not sure of the root cause yet but this one is going to be expensive to fix. The frame is certainly broken and every rotating apparatus can be deemed scrap. Who pays this bill?

Re: DCC loco decoders.

I have a programmer as well, so any members in the Berkshire / Surrey areas are welcome to get in touch. Or just come down to visit the Seaboard Southern group ( http://www.seaboard-southern.org.uk )and we will give you a demonstration on how the programmer works, and if you bring your locos with yo...

Re: DCC loco decoders.

The Loksound Select only needs the programmer to download a new sound project. Horn, engine, bell, etc selection is done by CVs. Decoder Pro has decoder definitions for them. Yes, sorry, meant for new sound projects or adjusting existing projects - volumes & horn/bell selections can be done thr...

Re: DCC loco decoders.

Digitrax? Not sure why not, I hear they are a bit harder to get your head round (hex addressing etc), but JMRI decoder pro might take that barrier away, what are these like? MRC, no thanks, too many horror stories about them, that I don't want to take the risk, I'll wait until these stories are sup...

Re: Photos and Copyright

As a photographer myself, if someone asks to use one of my photos I am generally more accommodating than if they just use it and ask later, or I find out before they ask. ALWAYS ask the photographer for permission - some will give permission to use the photo as is, some will ask for attribution (via...

Re: Suggestion box

Hey, isn't this forum great? i love the organisation of the posts, and the fact that the icon on the left goes red when a new message comes in. You can look at the board index and immediately see where all the new posts are. Fantastic. Why didn't we do this ages ago? Alan Crooks. Because some of us...

Re: Suggestion box

As far as 'good web coding practice' goes, you are not really meant to allow external links to open in a new window, although I prefer to do it as it keeps the original website open - especially important for companies who want to keep people on their sites. It would be best if it opened a new tab, ...
