Re: Challenge 2016 - Peter Bowen - HO Whitstones Brewing Com

The final assembly stages Attaching a sheet of 0.060" styrene to the back of the building. The supplied card is very flimsy and even with bracing it is likely to warp with changes in Canadian humidity, since this building will be situated in a Canadian environment it will need to withstand drastic ...

Re: Challenge 2016 - Peter Bowen - HO Whitstones Brewing Com

I have found a really cool way of holding parts firmly other than using clamps: I have a few two-drawer metal filing cabinets on to which I have a green cutting mat attached. I then use ceramic magnets (ebay). http://stlandh.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/IMG_1585-e1474461244180.jpg The magnets can ...

Updating the front of the Roundhouse I had always intended on modernising the front of the roundhouse - so here goes. http://stlandh.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/IMG_1192.jpeg The intention is to use HO scale corrugated roofing as a vertical siding material http://stlandh.com/wp-content/uploads/2...

Re: Challenge 2015 - Peter Bowen - HO Roundhouse

Modules have to comply to certain dimensions. This module is already very large at 24" x 48" and adding an extra 3" to each side was not an option. Cutting the corners off allows the inside to be seen and keeps everything within the 24" maximum width for a FREEMO module. ...Stay tuned for the next i...

Applying the Roofing Shingles (tiles) to the roof. Windows The windows are plastic parts and finely detailed. http://stlandh.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/IMG_1229.jpeg The windows fit very easily and are a press fit into the walls. http://stlandh.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/IMG_1230.jpeg This shows the windows weathered and minus glazing appli...

Re: Challenge 2016 - Peter Bowen - HO Whitstones Brewing Com

Primer for Walls In the Bar Mills instructions it says to use a primer to seal the wood surfaces prior to painting. http://stlandh.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/IMG_1195.jpeg In the past I have used Halfords Grey Primer because it is relatively inexpensive and is easy to use. And in this case I am...

UPDATE The Heljan Roundhouse has been incorporated into an HO Freemo module that has the Walthers 130 ft turntable. The turntable is in and calibrated and has made two visits - one to Bearwood in Bournemouth and one to Western Union in Plymouth and both times it has performed very well. http://stla...
