Re: Winter 2016 Challenge - Jim Botten - Breakheart Trestle

Hi Jim,

The wait has been worthwhile - the new Trestle and the clay formation at its base look superb - many more to go?

Kind regards

Re: NMRA Track Gauge - where can I buy one?

Hi David, if you're after an HO unit I have one you can borrow / buy or you could try Osbourne Models.

Re: 23rd Street

Hi Mike,

A nice rendition of a grab and with the additional activities the driver certainly now has his work cut out! - I'm assuming that, whilst I'm sure it's not beyond your capabilities, the loader isn't actually motorised!

Kind regards

Re: Assistance with an Open University Project

Hi David, Just read your post and also noted your based in Ipswich? For my sins I'm just down the road in Felixstowe and having just retired and only now setting off on a long awaited model building career I'd certainly be interested in helping out if at all possible in your quest. I'm contactable o...

Re: Southern Pacific GP9R

Hi Koos, nice distraction! I would have included it in the Winter Challenge as well as your layout rebuild - I'm assuming we're not limited to one entry? Was the paintwork done with an air brush or by brush or both? Either way the finish looks nice and crisp and I like the way the S appears over the...

Re: Winter 2016 Challenge - Peter Bowen - Scratchbuilt Freight Car

Hi Peter,

Looking extremely good irrespective of a false start!! - am I right in thinking it's O Scale (or derivative)? Congrats on your Master Builder by the way - I noticed your name in the latest NMRA mag listing so well done.

Hi Peter, Thank you for the encouragement and kind words - as for eyes I'm a spectacled man and if you add in the head mounted magnifier it all becomes so much clearer!! Not sure I'm going to get any more done before Santa arrives so here's wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a happy modelling New...

Re: Winter Challenge 2016 - Dean Halls - Build a Car (or 12)

So the glue came out (a Revell Liquid glue for plastics product 39604 complete with very thin metal spout-others are available) along with some very small clothes pegs and rubber bands - essential for holding parts together while you go make that next cup of tea. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/597/31...

Re: Winter Challenge 2016 - Dean Halls - Build a Car (or 12)

It does seem you can have too many URL's............ The trucks with plastic wheels fit nicely together and are in gauge (B2B) and run well on Peco Code 55. The unit build (at least this one) has truck mounted couplers - there are body mount parts in the kit if needed - a decision need not be rushed...

Re: Winter Challenge 2016 - Dean Halls - Build a Car (or 12)

One of things I wanted from today's test run was to understand any issues such that the build of the next 11 Cars moved forward knowing all the pit falls - well I certainly found out that small thin plastic ladder steps don't take much to break! https://c4.staticflickr.com/1/543/31486113251_736cb4d7...

Re: Winter Challenge 2016 - Dean Halls - Build a Car (or 12)

So first a little bit of history (as I can fathom it) regarding R-40-23 Refrigerator Cars. Many thanks to Arved Grass at Arvedgrass.com for the details. An order was placed in 1946 for some 5000 Cars and these were built and delivered by 5 differing manufacturers between Jan and Oct 1947. The manufa...

Winter Challenge 2016 - Dean Halls - Build a Car (or 12)

Hi Folks, As Koos says I also have a lot of items on my To Do list and but have primarily chosen to build a "fleet" of Reefers in this years Challenge. Unlike last year I aim to complete this project and if possible maybe something else but that's for another day. The photo below shows the parts lai...

Re: 23rd Street

Hi Mike,

I'm sure if the signals are half as good as the rest of your modelling then they will be great - but am I missing something in the way I view the picture in the post? - I can just about see part of the signal post structure only?

Regards
