Re: Programming problem - Powercab

If NCE is like Lenz the command station keeps a record of which addresses are in a consist and only sends the speed commands to the consist number, so until you clear the consist from the command station it would not send commands to the loco number. At least the problem has been cured.

Re: Programming problem - Powercab

Did you program the original loco's number with the Powercab? I have heard that one of the NCE systems has trouble with higher cv numbers but not with basic address changes. I don't see how, unless the loco was in a consist before, but is there a consist number programmed into CV17? If so set it to ...

Re: 23rd Street

Some more work on the module with the first signals going in. These are my first scratch built signals and still need to be painted, installed and wired to the decoder, hopefully for the next meeting. Re: brass pick-up strips

If it is the straight strip shown on the Kato parts website a strip of brass could be easily ben to the same shape. There are several suppliers of brass strip, such as Eileens https://eileensemporium.com/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=category&task=listing&cid=1097&name=nuts-and-washers-2&Itemid...

Re: Yellow stripes

Too late, all but one that normally comes is done or was made with the yellow stripes. If modelling up to date stock it should all be fitted with stripes, 100% had to be done by June 2015.

Yellow stripes

I've started fitting yellow stripes to my UP locos with red stripes. Latest are two SD38-2 locos. The red stripe was too wide so I had to remove it, by scraping and sanding it off. Where it was too light I painted with a grey paint pen which was wiped off quickly filling any scratches. I used Smokeb...

Next are the industries across the other side of the mainline, building supplies and scrap yard.
They have to fit in this space.

Re: 23rd Street

With the buildings painted and weathered, I'm nearing completion of the board plant. I think the loading shed looks far better with the low relief structures, before it stood out as a lone building, now it is part of a larger industry. https://c8.staticflickr.com/8/7533/27801354775_dc82c44dca_o.jpg ...

Re: 23rd Street

I've started on the low relief structures of the board plant. I made the basic blocks from foam core board, easy to cut and glue. Here they are against the profile board. https://c3.staticflickr.com/8/7349/27205388970_2446c1580c_o.jpg I then covered them with styrene sheets, stuck with transfer glue...

Re: 23rd Street

I've finished the roof of Banks Boards (finally named it). I've used the same cladding and sloped roof materials with black card to represent tarred flat areas. Re: 23rd Street

I've added the backing for the low relief buildings. I was going to make them a few inches deep, but then thought that would put them in the scrap yard when folded and being wider would not make them look much different, it would make the module wider so I just added 3/4". I had planned a fold up lo...

Re: My First Layout - N Gauge Denesport & Lesley Falls

Nice drawing! Most don't even have a scribble, that makes it very hard to fault find. The only thing I would question is switching the power to the passing loop by the right hand turnout, 1. you don't need the double pole switch as the loop can be connected to the the frog, with both rails on the sa...

Re: 23rd Street

The pump is a fan. I'm not sure if they are used in this case, but I do know that there is some vacuum unloading done and I have worked where woodchips were transported by blowing them through pipes with such fans. There was a circuit of about 100m of pipe which climbed around 8m from the sawdust ho...

Re: 23rd Street

A view of the loading shed at the Christow Freemo meeting. I'm now thinking of adding low relief buildings to the left edge of the board, creating a bit of a canyon effect and giving a better impression that this is just a small structure in the plant. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7656/26361797694...
