Re: TCS 21 pin sound decoder & motherboard
You should be able to see what address is programmed in on AD2 or AD4 when in Program mode. A decoder can have both 2 and 4 digit addresses at the same time, CV29 bit 5 sets which one, program mode should set it for you. More modern decoders prefer Direct programming, press the PROG button until PD ...

Re: JMRI and Intermountain incompatibility?
When I Googled it looks like those locos were factory fitted with ESU decoders. If it is a QSI decoder, make sure the verbal read back is disabled, I know that causes problems with JMRI. Some systems have trouble with some sound decoders, where any of the other decoders the same make? If the program...

Re: NCE EB1 breakers
With three going at a time definitely sounds like the voltage dropping. The circuit breakers will drop out at some voltage as they need power to stay switched on and like PSX they must be taking it from the DCC power in. Have you got large enough wires from the booster to the breakers, and bad conta...

Re: NCE EB1 breakers
The only thing I can think is that further away the cable / track resistance will lower the fault current, does the closer higher fault current drop the booster voltage. The breakers would trip when the voltage goes below some value. Do all breakers trip or just the three on the booster feeding the ...

Re: Making decals
Can you just swap between black and white cartridges? I suppose colour with white will depend on how good the printer repeats the paper position. Keep us up to date, sounds like it might be worth me buying a laser printer. There are building signs as well as railroad stuff I can see would be easier ...

Fasttracks and PECO templates can be downloaded from their websites. I can't find NMRA diagrams only tables of dimensions.

Re: Help on module busses
I do try to check every week or so, but yes there is very little traffic. I think most are on facebook etc. I find it hard to keep track of those unless glued to the phone, which I'm not. Any useful information gets lost after a short time.

Re: Help on module busses
1. All our track sockets are red, most important is that they are clearly marked as the track bus and wired left socket to left rail etc. 2. We (Western Union) use black for the accessory bus, as with 1. they need to be differently marked to avoid being confused with the track bus. They do both carr...

My Father is helping me with the three way point, he is using slide switches to change both the switches and the polarity. any views on this would be most appreciated. I've used both slide and toggle switches to move the to move the blades and switch the frog. Both work well, just make sure the swi...

Re: Paint Markers
Missed this one! Once dry the acrylics do not come off, make sure they are where you want them! The markers dry in seconds, you have to be quick to remove them. I do small patches at a time. The washes take longer to dry maybe 1/2 hour to fully dry. I usually do a white wash first to fade the car, t...

Two cars again weathered with acrylic paint pens and washes. Both were done from photos. A DIFCO side dump car. The black patches under the stripes look like they were brush painted so are this rough. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4619/38789772270_ba1c4ceba1_o.jpg 11th Avenue difco gondola weatheri...

Now I am taking 11th Avenue to Devon Freemo I thought it was about time I built the depot, I bought the Walthers Union Station kit about 15 years ago! but so far there have only been paper stand ins on the layout. If you have seen my previous buildings you will know I like to detail the insides and ...

Hello
I saw your article in the Roundhouse, as no one has made contact here is mine. I started modelling logging back in the 80's, but not much in the last ten. I have a layout built back then, which was exhibited in the South West for over 15 years and once in London. It was in Continental Modeller back ...
