Kent & East Sussex Group

The Kent & East Sussex Group was formed in July 2013 and is open to all NMRA members, principally for those resident in the two counties of its name and those members who live along the A27 and A23/M23 corridors in West Sussex but all other members  are always welcome.

The Group meets approximately monthly in members' homes across Kent and East Sussex, although future Meets may take place also at places of railway and other transport interest. Meetings have been held in Crowborough, Bexhill-on-Sea, Seaford, Hastings, Lewes, Lancing, Gravesend and Strood to date, all viewing and running members' home layouts.

At the moment we have five definite meetings planned for the Spring/Summer Season (usually 11.00am - 4.00pm) - there are more in the pipeline for the Autumn (Maidstone; Istead Rise):

  • Saturday 17 March 2018 at the home of Dave Griffiths in Hastings.  This will be an operating session on his layout using car cards and waybills.  Please contact the host to let him know you are coming.
  • Saturday 14 April 2018 at the home of Derek Russell in Bexhill-on-Sea. There will be plenty of time to operate on his layout and view the changes he has made of late.  Derek will also be demonstrating his techniques in making trees from twisted wire that he showcased at the one-day of clinics at Hastings last year.  Please let the host know you plan to attend.
  • Saturday 19 May 2018 at the home of Ian Watton in Gillingham. An opportunity to visit his developing model railroad in the loft.  Please contact the host to let him know you will be coming.
  • Saturday 16 June 2018 at the home of Andrew Browne in Strood.  Again a chance to view and operate his multi-deck CSX layout in the garage.
  • Saturday 21 July 2018 at the home of Mike Arnold in Crowborough.  Operations on the Texas Pacific with switchlists and car cards.

Maps for directions to the Group's meets are provided in the Division Newsletter - see this link: https://www.nmrabr.org.uk/south-eastern-division-news.
