Plastic products manufacturer

Post by Gloriousnse »

From Geoff's module thread, this is Berry Plastics, on an industrial park in the Chicago suburb of Alsip IL.

Berry's website - they make plastic food packaging, amongst other items: http://www.berryplastics.com/catalog/ - From the looks they receive plastic pellets in covered hoppers, but their outbound shipments look to be by road - a very simple industry on the face of it. The Bing overheads show three full tracks of covered hoppers, plus several more 'off-spot' left on the lead to another industry.

Overhead shot from Bing: http://binged.it/10l5rZO

From ground level you can see the yellow bits are supports for safety cables for folk working on top of the hoppers.

I saw this one on my google map viewing of the area but didn't find the photos on Flickr, (i've not been a big Flickr user so far) thanks for the heads up. He's also got some short videos of the genset switching, it sounds weird when you're used to EMDs and GEs but looks great in the bright orange.
