Request for photos
Hi all,
Peter Borcherds, Mike Hughes and yours truly are trying to stimulate activity on the Region's Facebook page to show how active we are as an organisation.
If you are attending an event as an organiser, demonstrator, exhibitor or simply representing the NMRA on our NMRA stand, could you please send me photos (details in the members directory or contact me through the message service on this forum for my email address).
Also, if you are working on a layout for an event, have any special projects to share which might be of interest to the wider public or have had an interesting event / project at your group meetings, please also let me have photos and details.
The emphasis is on things that are happening / being constructed now. We want to keep the page fresh with current modelling projects and events. This post relates to the posts on the Team Phoenix part of the forum about focussing on modelling. We do lots of it and it would be nice to celebrate it and share it amongst the wiser public. It is after all what we do best.

Re: Request for photos
Thanks Antony
I've stickied this post to keep it at the top - i'd also add please do share here on the forum also for exactly the same reasons, keeping us talking about model railroading (and keeping us seen to be about model railroading!)

Re: Request for photos
I've just posted two items on the FB page, but they have apparently been put (automatically?) into the "posts by others" part of the page, so you can't see the actual content without clicking onto them to find out more. You only see their wtitten description.
Would it not be better to have all posts freely visible, rather than just the ones the person in charge of the page posts?

ah facebook, can't help there, don't want to help there, evil place, but I understand it's need in the current world. A lot of younger (and increasingly, older) potential members have an FB account now.
I am curious though how successful it will be, so new members could perhaps be asked how they came about joining us: Seen at show, website/page, recommended by a friend, via Facebook etc etc

Thanks Brian
I was trying to view them and couldn't.
I don't run the Facebook page, I was attending a number of events, Brighton, Northampton, ally pally with mike Hughes and thought it would be a good idea to start posting at the events.
In the end it proved technically impossible for multiple posters to have full mobile access as it's a page.
I agree that it would make sense to have a number of designated posters around the country.

Ps I'll friend you on Facebook.

Re: Request for photos
I've managed to access the photo & video posted by Brian.
It's very different depending upon the platform you use to access FaceBook (not very intuitive or maybe my intuition is of a different generation!).
Via a web browser on Windows, there's a little greyed-out box that reads "posts by..."
Click on that and all is revealed including Dan's modules for the Ally Pally event.
Looking forward to seeing them in the flesh.

Re: Request for photos
Great job, guys. Keep the photos coming! As for 'posts by others', that is the way pages work, unlike personal pages. Only 'admins' posts appear on the main feed, that is standard for all pages. Ant, multiple admins can post at the same time - if you have an iPhone you can use the Pages app - otherwise you can post at the same time as the other admins (myself & Mike) with no problem.
