COME TO CREWE FOR A GREAT DAY OUT
Make a diary note for ALL FOOLS DAY!
Calder Northern Group will host the NMRA Spring Meet on April 1st
2017 at Crewe Heritage Centre, off Vernon Way, Crewe CW1 2DB
The meet will be open to NMRA members and also to the general
public as the Heritage Centre is open for business on that day.
For members interest we are expecting some 15 layouts to be on
display, which will include HO, N scale and OO gauge layouts. A couple
of layouts are yet to fully confirm attendance but we do have at least
one reserve layout to call upon. Traders include Anoraks Anonymous,
Mech’s Models, Sunningwell CC, Linda Tinker Books, Amberley
Services, Richard Maxwell (brass models) Jonathan Clay (Railway
Artist), plus some demonstrations of modelling skills. Bring & Buy
tables will be available and we have considered these being placed in
the APT train – tables £5 each – contact Tony Gath to reserve –
anthonygath(at)btinternet.com.
Opening times for the event are 10am to 5pm with entry costs - £5
for NMRA members. General public entry is £7 per adult, children
under 14 years - £3 (children under 5 - FoC) No senior discounts.
We are expecting to run a free “Routemaster Bus” which will
operate between Crewe Railway Station & Heritage Centre (More
information on this nearer the time)
The Heritage Centre 7.25” miniature railway will be operating - Free
rides.
Refreshments will be available in the North Junction Signal Box plus
a catering facility for hot food. Toilets are located near the
Exhibition Hall and in North Junction Signal Box
Other Heritage Centre attractions include – Advanced Passenger
Train (APT-P), Class 47 & 37 locos – (at this stage we are unaware of
any visiting steam locos), Exeter West Signal Box (signal
demonstrations by members of the Exeter Signal Box Group) plus 2
other signal boxes, the Heritage Centre’s OO & N gauge layouts will
also be operating which are focussed mainly on the younger
children’s interest.
