I have been a longtime user of Anyrail for design, but it falls short of being completely useful for more finescale work, as there is no way of putting in custom switch assemblies. Xtrackcad causes me a headache, not because its bad but simply because of my difficulty learning something new. It did show me however, that there is an NMRA libary of templates used (speaking Nscale here) and I can see my interchanging Atlas code 55 off the shelf switches with what I need to make myself to fit a given space. I am also considering making code 40 track for less used parts of the line (and FS:160) which will have to be custom built.
So to the question, is there somewhere NMRA turnout templates can be downloaded for printing?
