Re: how to manage a module meet?

Good to hear, Dan. I look forward to seeing it in action.

By the way, this thread ought to be cross-referenced into Electrical - DCC I would have thought. Is that possible?

Another comment - Old smartphones never die, they just don't ring true.

Re: how to manage a module meet?

Thanks Martyn. That makes it all much clearer. I can't wait to see it in operation on a big layout. Meriden?

Re: how to manage a module meet?

I knew someone would be able to correct me, and it seems everybody has. Oh well. At least it got the topic moving in directions it might not otherwise have taken without me displaying my ignorance. Or am I being a bit too arrogant here? The interesting thing that's come out of it for me is that it w...

Re: how to manage a module meet?

At Seaboard Southern we've set up our modules so that they can use either NCE or Digitrax, though I believe you have to be a bit careful with the UTP plates you put in to plug the throttles in. I think you can use Digitrax connectors in sockets wired for NCE but not the other way round. I'm sure som...

Re: Interested in Layout Design?

There was an interesting discussion on another yahoo group (perhaps the regionsand divisions one) where it was suggested and strongly supported that too many members try to build too big a layout. Many die before they even get it running....a salutory tale for us all. Ah well off to the cabin to ca...

Re: Interested in Layout Design?

I'm very interested in layout design and though I'm not a member of the US-based LDSig, I do subscribe to their Yahoo group. There seems to be quite a lot of crossover over there between the LDSig and the OPSig of which I am a member. They are related, of course, because whenever I start looking at ...

Yes, you're right, Mike, it was Scale Rails where I saw his articles. I knew it was somewhere in one of those major magazines but I forgot which one.

Re: The AP and the youth of today...

There have been a few articles about him in Model Railroader recently with his V&O Railroad. The fact that his Dad is a contributor in his own right, and an MMR, I think, means that he knows all the right people to talk to about getting help, though I believe his Dad has let him get on with it h...

Re: JMRI ops

Ah, the joys of Theory V Practice. I love Theory. It's just a shame that it seems to me that nobody else does, because their Practices stuff mine up at every opportunity. Yours too, Peter, by the looks of it. I programme computer systems in my day job, and do you think I can get my users to use them...
