Re: Suggestion box

Yes that could work, although there's plenty of subjects on both, but better to put some separation in early I guess. I'm currently watching the new modeltrains video scenery videos they released (scenery outside the box, by Mike Colfalone) , which I downloaded. (took several hours to do, I opted for...

Re: Suggestion box

Re: Photos and Copyright

I guess the safest bet is to always contact the author of that photo, and ask permission. Copyrights are a hornets nest, and are dealt with differently around the world. I personally wouldn't have any problem with people using my photo's (as long as no money is being made with it) without permission...

Re: My NMRA-BR spec module

Here's a little progress on the module. Today I've made a set of legs and 'elevated' one of the two boards to a 40"+ height. I still need to fit the legs with adjustable feet for uneven floors and be able to raise the rail head to the 45" standard of NMRA-BR draft spec. The other board is ...

Re: Car Cards & way bills

I am not familiar with those Rodders, I know about the Micromark cards though, they look suitable, but I do like the design Mike Ruby suggests (and which I've seen at Western Union meets previously). I'm going to take another look at those. I want to make car cards including their pictures for easie...

Re: Handlaid Track

I once did a little bit of test track with some wooden ties and code 70 rail (a long time ago). I know the trouble with any (Walthers) vendor is that they haven't usually got spikes in stock, although they can order it, but I found some code 100 spikes. Does it make a huge difference in using code 1...

If you are still looking in 10 days times when I get back from New England let me know off group and will send you a set of mine based very closely on Martyn Read's Excel spread sheet ones. Do you have Excel?

Mike Arnold

Have fun in New England! , yes I have Excel.

Re: Handlaid Track

I quite like the idea of hand laid, but who in the UK has a good supply of wooden ties, spikes and rail?

Re: What did it for you?

Hi Mike, It would be nice to have pictures regardless, but I have two P2K Geeps (a phase 2 and a phase 3) that I first need to repaint and detail in bloody nose scheme (they're currently a pensy and UP loco), one of them will be detailed as having a steam generator, to complement the two SP bilevel ...

Re: Sergent couplers

i don't have any hands on experience, but communicated with someone who made 'the switch'. He ordered the ones you have to assemble yourselves, and they take a bit of adjusting / lubricating and had a few issues doing that (sausage fingers didn't help there). However once operating they work great s...

Re: Car Cards & way bills

Hi Jock, yes I've looked at that in the past, when he first started to develop the program. I've got to look again, as I'm not sure it runs on my ancient Mac (it's nearly 10 years old, on PowerPC G4 processor still ).

thanks for the suggestion. Koos

Re: Car Cards & way bills

Hi Brian, I think that's probably similar as I have in mind, and of course place these in card holders along the fascia of the layout. Nothing is so unsightly as a nicely scenicked layout, only to see car cards etc 'plonked' on cars, in yards etc etc.

Re: Early SD9s

It sounds like a great fun project Brian, I guess that must mean you soon own (or have owned) pretty much every SP incarnation of SD7/9 there was (except small variations)? Black Widows, tiger stripes, bloody nose, snow fighters, am I missing anything? ;-)

My NMRA-BR spec module 'Wolter Springs'

I guess this could just as well have been posted in the trackplan section, but as it is a module, it's more fitting to reside in the modular topics section. Here's my module 'Wolter Springs', currently under construction. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8189/8116883922_40bc2af4a7.jpg Picture 3 by K2K ...
