Re: Thamesiders Modular Trial Run for Ally Pally
Hi Dan. I reckon I'll be there all day both days, so let me know when you need me and I'll do time on the NMRA BR stand as well. Is Patrick organising this one? Alan That's great as I believe we are a little 'light' on Sunday. V cheeky but if you could hang around for a bit after closing to give a ...

Re: Thamesiders Modular Trial Run for Ally Pally
Looks great. I think I'll have to come along. Maybe help on the NMRA BR stand one day (it is going to be there, isn't it?) and watch Thamesiders on the other. What I want to know is, will the drum kit be there? Alan The Region stand will be attending and we'll will need a hand covering lunchtime if...

Thamesiders Modular Trial Run for Ally Pally
Hi All This year the Thamesiders group will be flying the flag for the region at this month Ally Pally show with their largest set up yet. As a technical and logistical test run we put up, ran and knocked down the set up. The below link are a few pics to provide a taster for anyone planning to come ...

Re: a small tip for kadees
Not sure which number Kadees (think they are 'whisker' ones) but some of the more recent Kadees I've bought have come with snap together draft boxes that intallation a lot easier

Re: HO Ballast
Still it would be good to have a rough guide on the shade to be used. From memory RS Tower use a light grey (Woodland Scenics) ballast where as, after some experimenting, we at Seaboard Southern have opted for a granite ballast that comes out a mid / dark grey once glued down. I did a test piece of ...

Re: Paint decanting
I use disposable shot glasses (available from large Tescos, Poundshops etc) to blend paint and thinner to free up glass jars for storing mixes for later use. Overall proceedure I (try to) follow is: 1. Mix paint in jar 2. Decant mixed paint into shot glass with pipette 3. Add thinning agent with ano...

SP/Cotton Belt Late GP40-2 Proto Info Enquiry
All For a forthcoming loco build I'm looking to check a couple of detail points regarding the final batch of GP40-2's that SP / SSW took delivery of in 1984. Being a late build these units were delivered with 'Q' type radiator fans but can anyone out there confirm whether they were the 48' or 52' va...

Re: New Loco Announced by Athearn - Genesis Range GP50
Oh I dunno.....I hadn't seen anything on my periodic scans of various forums in the last week or so Anyway, will be side stepping these pending either a BN, late SF (low headlight, ditchlights, no beacon etc) or BNSF model. What would be really nice would be a crewcab BN version 8-) Mike (Arnold) - ...

Re: Credit crunch railroading...
Martyn I mention research only on the basis of personal experience of not knowing anything at first and buying a load of stuff that, once I know a bit better, didn't really go together. So long as you did spend a lot then no probs. On the flipside I agree with you on avoiding "anaylsis paralysi...
