Re: Western Union - March 2013
Midwest Modurail (mostly CB&Q) used to divide their running sessions into eras, more realistic. That I admit is the one drawback I find with some modular (and not so modular) American layouts. There can be too much of 'anything goes'. A few years ago there was a small N scale layout at a provin...

Re: Thamesiders Modular Trial Run for Ally Pally
You missed an excellent show! The Essex Belt was worth the (advance) entry fee alone! There were some good other layouts there too, though I think some are more suited to 'Meets', rather than shows, as you need to spend quite a while at the layout to see movement! Even the snow didn't dampen enthusi...

Re: Model Railroader - March 2013
Mine arrived too, brown envelope with a cellophane covered copy inside. Heavy! Time for an e-copy option on that? I admit that I would consider it too, but I wonder what the extra cost in printing a lower number would be? It's the same as MR and RMC etc, the main saving for us with the digital copy ...

Re: Interested in Layout Design?
Layout design is an area that fascinates me too! However, I'm not a member of the LDSIG mainly because I've never got around to joining! I do agree with Brian M. that we do have different parameters / experience over here, but I have found that since going over to US modelling I have picked up diffe...

TCS KAT12 Decoder
Has anyone got any experience of the TCS KAT12 decoder?
I've got the Atlas Trainman GP39/1 & GP39/2 (for Christmas....), and was looking at what type of decoder to use.
Thanks.

Re: What did it for you?
I think my screen name also gives it away, though it wasn't always that way..... My interest in US railroads started way back at the end of the 1960's, when I saw photos of the SP Cab Forwards, and some D&RGW steam, can't remember what type now, and I thought when I got into modelling US trains ...

Re: Deadwood City Railroad - HO
Just a question, Did the Santa Fe operate a passenger train as short as the one shown, with an F unit pair (A and B) and only two coaches in local service? Koos No, not that I am aware of. They used PA's and E8m's, but again, not on locals, more of long distance connecting services. Besides, by the...

The ones I use are from the Aussie NMRA website;-

I use different colour cards for the different freight cars.

Re: Deadwood City Railroad - HO
Quite a bit of Kansas looks like the Cotswolds (so my man in Topeka tells me) ! RAW It's surprising how much contrast there can be in Kansas. When I've got nothing better to do at work, usually about 3am on a Sunday morning......, then I'll take a 'drive' across Kansas (and other States), thanks to...

Re: Deadwood City Railroad - HO
Critical note: (to be ignored if you simply like the loco) No RS1's in Kansas. RAW I like RS1's, and my excuse is that one was en-route from Chicago to California, and it got pressed into service..... Having said that, I have been thinning out my collection, to reduce the era range to those loco's ...

Did you know you can use photo's from your photobucket site here just by pasting in the img tag code next to them? Or there's a clickable thumbnail version... Deadwood City Railroad - HO
Now in it's 7th version, the Deadwood City Railroad started off back in 1998, after changing scales and countries, having been in to German and Swiss railways for most of my life! Various moves resulted in a change each time, the current version being the largest.... Currently a Santa Fe branchline,...
