Stacey Naffah to become Walthers' fourth president

From Model Railroader magazine: "Model railroad manufacturer Wm. K. Walthers Inc. has announced Stacey Walthers Naffah will become the company’s fourth president, starting in September 2018." http://mrr.trains.com/news-reviews/new-products/2018/05/stacey-naffah-becomes-walthers-fourth-president?utm_...

Re: Modelling the Wild West

Someone's just pointed out that a few years back Carstens published a book called, 'Modeling the Wild West.' Apparently, it includes step-by-step instructions for modelling old railroad buildings and gold mines etc! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MODELING-THE-WILD-WEST-modeling-scenes-of-the-old-Wild-We...

Continental Modeller June 2018

The latest issue of Continental Modeller contains several features that may be of interest to NMRABR members: TWIGG STREET YARD Switching in a small space: Chris Hopper has built a new compact American HO layout, set in the Boston area in the 1950s and 1960s. FRANKLIN GOES TO THE USA A tale of two t...

Modelling the Wild West

The April 2018 edition of Model Railroader magazine features the Sierra Pintada & Western RR, a fascinating HO scale layout set in 1880s Arizona. It’s the brainchild of Willem Van der Hoeven, a former Swedish government economist who lives near Stockholm. Apparently, Willem’s Wild West-themed layout...

Re: Colorado Midland

There's a nice Colorado Midland layout in 'Great Model Railroads 2018', recently released by Kalmbach Publishing. Andrew Dodge's Proto:48 (O fine scale) layout models the CM Second Division ca. 1897.

Re: Colorado Midland

I’ve just seen this thread on one of my occasional visits to the forum. And yes, I’m interested in the Colorado Midland. It strikes me as an exciting modelling project, particularly if you’re bold enough to model the east side of Hagerman Pass! If I ever attempt a CM-inspired layout then it will hav...

Re: Civil War Layouts

Okay, this is in O-scale but it's still good inspiration:

So You Want a Model Railroad?

Hi all, I attended a railway film show last night at which the short movie, "So You Want a Model Railroad?" (1955) was shown. I was previously unaware of this film but perhaps some of you might have seen it. If not then it's definitely worth checking out. I think members of this forum would apprecia...

Re: Civil War Layouts

It looks as if Bachmann produced a Confederate Railroad 'set' (and one of "The General"!) a few years back. However, the reviews on amazon.com are dreadful! Although it would provide some useful ready-to-run stock, it sounds as if it's something to avoid like the plague. And I wouldn't want the trac...

Civil War Layouts

I am considering building a small HO-scale layout set during the American Civil War. Ideally, it would be based in one of the Confederate States (we won’t worry about 5ft gauge at the moment) but that’s not a showstopper. I’ve no desire to scratch-build and am pretty rubbish at making kits, so any l...
