Re: BUILD A STRUCTURE CHALLENGE WINTER 2015/2016 VOTE

Hi Koos.
I was one who voted, but I only knew about the challenge because I was "watching" this section of the forum anyway - I wouldn't have known otherwise.
Perhaps you could mention it to Martin as Editor of Roundhouse, and/or it could be mentioned in the eNews.
Best,
Jock

Deluxe Materials Pin Flow Applicator

Anybody used this with Mek-Pak, as opposed to DM's own Plastic Magic? Did you have any problems with the tip clogging? If so, how did you resolve this? I've used with great success - but one time only - with Mek-Pak and now find the tip is clogged. I've also found that the advertised method of filli...

Hex Frog Juicer

Anyone have any experience of this beastie? I first tried to use mine on an area where I think the problem was too many frogs in too close proximity, so it kept stalling my system as locos went through the frogs (I run an NCE Power Pro 5 amp system). To simplify matters, I've hooked the HFJ to a sin...

Re: Warping; and security

Trevor, That last sentence is my utopian vision for "next time round", ie when we inevitably downsize. At the moment, as you'll appreciate when looking at the drawing of the closed gates, I'm fairly sure that as well as lacking all the comforts you mention, I have probably the world's only...

Re: Warping; and security

Thanks all for the advice. Brian - I won't use MDF again - I don't particularly like its qualities anyway, but had just thought it was likely to stay the same shape as it came in. John - I hadn't painted it, no - but I will either paint or varnish the next time for sure. Trevor - your security sound...

Warping; and security

My layout's built around three sides of a double garage, and I've devised an "ingenious" (for which read "Heath Robinson") method of closing the fourth side gap and allowing trains to go "off stage" in each direction – see diagram attached. (The diagram is much neater t...

Re: Model Railroader 75 years DVD

Thanks for the info, Mike. I'm on Mac too, and also want to install on a (portable) backup drive if possible, though this might be something that's barred. Not so I can cart it around, just so I can avoid taking up internal hard drive space. I tried to rationalise (ie save space) a couple of years a...

Model Railroader 75 years DVD

Has anyone bought this/got experience of using it? There's a lot of criticism of the DVD's interface on the Kalmbach site - I thought it would be a good way of clearing out old hard-copy magazines, and a much faster way of finding the article you want, but the Search is said to be poor, and a lot of...

No space for a layout??

Just been to Wakefield MR Exhibition and have seen two things I've never seen before. The first removes the last excuse you've ever had to say you haven't got room for a layout. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFCGsNvki1Y The view of the (Dutch) layout you get is pretty much its...

Re: Sergent couplers

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm only likely to use my stock at home, so that isn't a problem. However, the investment isn't small even for a modest fleet of cars, so thanks for the pre-warning about the self-assembly type (yes, they still do these). Maybe I'll get the smallest pack available, conver...

Sergent couplers

Does anybody have any experience in using these? Any comments or suggestions? I'd like to hear of others' exploits before I go ahead and order a few.

Thanks,

Jock

Re: Car Cards & way bills

Hi Koos. I have a set of car cards and waybills that I set using InDesign and have made PDFs of - you're welcome to have a copy if you'd like to contact me separately - unfortunately I don't think I can attach them here. My email address is in Roundhouse. But on a slightly different tack, have you c...
